The Trustees considered the offer of part of the Charles Creech farm property to the Harlan County Board of Education as the site for a new elementary school.

A black-topped playing court was established on a corner of the school playground.

A community recreation room was opened in Hill House (former Infirmary), residence of teachers Charlie and Joyce Whitaker.

A weaving workshop which was held in February under the auspices of the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild generated renewed activity in vegetable dyeing and weaving

An Ohio church youth camp was at PMSS for its third summer.

Death of Trustee, neighbor, school benefactor since its beginning, Mr. Henry Creech.
