The DRAMA Guide is a list of presentations by PMSS students and staff as well as one-time events that engaged outside artists, musicians, and theater. Also recorded are annual events only engaged during the Boarding School years, such as Thanksgiving Ball, May Day, Mummer’s Play, etc. These events ended following the closure of the Boarding School.
Presentations throughout the 100-plus years of Pine Mountain Settlement School’s existence vary and often reflect the current national and world views. Evidence of cultural trends are strongly linked to the theater arts of the day. Links provide information about language, people, political and social behaviors, and more. They may not represent the contemporary political and social climate but are valuable historical markers. Pageants, theater productions, class skits, seasonal plays, and other dramatic presentations at the School offer a window into other times and ideas.
