FOR A LIST OF PUBLICATIONS RELATED TO PINE MOUNTAIN SETTLEMENT SCHOOL
BUT NOT PUBLISHED BY THE SCHOOL
PUBLICATIONS RELATED to Pine Mountain Settlement School form an eclectic body of work that includes ephemeral material as well as booklets that may be part of a serial run or may be included within files.
Publications of RELATED materials are different than publications BY PMSS. Publications BY Pine Mountain Settlement School are those produced by the School. What the two types of publications share in common is that all of them are RELATED in either a direct manner (published by PMSS) or and indirect manner (not published by the School but related in some manner) to the School or to the region in which the School is located.
Publications RELATED sometimes overlaps with materials held in the VERTICAL FILE and both will need to be researched for a similar topic.
Note that SCRAPBOOKS, ALBUMS, GATHERED NOTES (Series 27) also contain publications that are related but have been gathered into a scrapbook format by staff at Pine Mountain Settlement School or by other entities. (See the GUIDE TO SCRAPBOOKS.) In some cases, scrapbooks have been associated with the creator when known and are found under that individual. For example, Elizabeth Hench produced an amusing collection of cow-lore called Joy Makes History that celebrated the support of the Ayrshire herd at Pine Mountain and a cow named “Joy.” Her scrapbook is associated directly with her. The same is true of Birdena Bishop‘s scrapbook.
