OFF-SITE STORAGE (Appalshop Film Archive*)
The FILM HOLDINGS GUIDE is a list of films and photographic prints belonging to the PMSS Archives that were being held in off-site storage at Appalshop, Whitesburg, KY. The recent flooding of the building in which the films were housed did not, apparently, reach the film storage of this small group of important film and they will be returned to the Settlement School for storage.
Descriptions and notes have been added regarding the earlier restoration/preservation that was completed prior to their being sent to Appalshop for storage. At the time of storage the film was checked for the existence of dyefade; brittleness; ferrotyping; perf damage at the time of storage. The following report indicates the condition of the film prior to its storage at Appalshop by Nancy Adams, Director of Pine Mountain Settlement, who instituted the preservation and the storage arrangements in the film storage facility in Whitesburg.
Additional films that capture later years at the School remain to be inventoried in the Archival collections at PMSS.
