1913 John Shell “Gray” Cottage; Store Building and Masonic Lodge; 3 Tents; Sawmill; May 15, Big Log house begun.
1914 Old Log House reconstructed; “House in the Woods“; Big Log house completed; Farm House begun.
1915 Tool House I completed; Reservoir started.
1916 Barn constructed; Laurel House I begun; Zande House begun; Open House built in summer (owners Hook, Butler, Cathcart [?])
1917 Zande House under construction; Mary Sinclair Burkham School House I completed.
1918 House in the Woods; Pole House built; Big Laurel Medical Center begun; Death of Uncle William Creech; Marriage of Ethel de Long and Luigi Zande in CT; 1918 Pandemic in Harlan County.
1919 Pole House constructed; Office constructed; Big Laurel Medical Center begun; Burkham School House I destroyed by fire; Robbins cabin & school on Little Laurel active. First issue of NOTES of the Pine Mountain Settlement School.

1921 Infirmary (Hill House) building construction; Electricity in place; Health House at Line Fork is begun. Staff member Lura Parsons murdered.
1922 Chapel construction; Line Fork Med. Settlement continues; Boy’s Industrial Building (Workshop).
1923 Planned Swimming Pool; Water at Medical Settlement; Construction of Country Cottage [Practice House].
1924 Dedication of the Charlotte F. Hedges Chapel.
1925 Girl’s Industrial Building constructed.
1926 Little Log Cabin (Doctor’s Cabin) for Mrs. Burns, the farmer, begun.
1927 Little Log Cabin [Little Log House] constructed for Mrs. [Martha] Burns, the farmer; Addition to Infirmary
1928 Death of Ethel de Long Zande; Plan for electricity.
1929 Plans for electricity underway; Electrical Power House built; Line Fork Settlement fire destroys Cabin; Cabin is re-built after fire.

1930 Crayfish in Reservoir; Agriculture added to curriculum; Co-ops studied; Print Shop.
1931 Glyn Morris assumes Director position; Reservoir issues (crayfish); Uncle John Lewis (Fiddler) dies.
1932 Katherine Pettit, founder, retires; Midsummer Night’s Dream play; Mikado musical.
1933 Testing of students is begun; Mikado; Lumbering down Greasy and on Line Fork; Far House Girl’s Mummer’s Play; Pinafore musical.
1934 Diesel Plant begun; Student Counselor added to staff; Insurance instituted for PMSS staff; Guests Doris Ulmann and John Jacob Niles; singing group to WJZ Radio City Music Hall; Pinafore performed.
1935 Diesel Plan developed; Widespread flooding of campus, May; Pinafore performed [?].
1936 Death of Katherine Pettit; Diesel and street lights installed.
1937 Milk House built; Reading room added to library; Pack horse librarians; Silver Jubilee; NYC trip; Octet at White House.
1938 Milk House completed; Swimming Pool issues resolved.
1939 Burkham Schoolhouse II stage constructed.

1940 Old Laurel House I burns, Jan. 29; New Laurel House II is begun; poultry discontinued. Big Log is remodeled.
1941 Sleeping porches at Boy’s House closed; West Wind begun; Jubilee Cottage built; Director Glyn Morris departs; Harmon Foundation film; strep throat epidemic; William Webb hired as Director.
1942 West Wind construction completed and dedicated; REA comes to valley; William Webb assumes Director position; 5th Youth Guidance Institute.
