MILKHOUSE, 1936 – 1949(?)
The Milkhouse was an out-growth of the dairy program at the School. It was constructed by students at the School in 1936 to give a sanitary site to hold and process the milk from the Ayrshire dairy herd. it was very small in scale.
The structure was roughly square in shape and originally had a pyramidal roof and a poured concrete floor. The facade, which faced north, had two entrances. Windows, casement in type, were located on the three remaining sides of the building. The building materials included uncut field stone and board and batten upper section. The stone came from a plentiful supply pulled from the very stony farmyard next door. The Milkhouse sat between the west end of the Barn and Farm House.
Today the building is in ruin. The stone walls and some remains of a brick chimney flue at the rear of the building are all that can be found at its original location.
