PUBLICATIONS PMSS Calendars 1961

The 1961 PMSS Calendar is again the work of Mary Rogers, staff member and wife of Burton Rogers, Director. In this small card/calendar she incorporates many of the tree and plant species that can be found at Pine Mountain Settlement School and maps her drawings to the seasons and months associated with the trees and plants.

Mary’s close observation of the environment grew into a mission to share the rich biodiversity of the Pine Mountain area with others. By 1973, Mary had been instrumental in helping to inspire and steer a pilot Environmental Education program at Pine Mountain into being. That program is still the model for offerings in Environmental Education at the School. Environmental Education forms a central part of the rich environmental, social, and community programming of the School.
