EVENTS
EVENTS are listed under four categories. Overlapping events are evident.
EVENTS ONGOING
This includes events that have continued on a regular basis at the School. Such events include Fair Day, the Nativity Play, Fall Color Weekend, etc. It does not include events that are part of regular programming. See list in EVENTS Guide to Ongoing Annual Events.
EVENTS COMMUNITY SCHOOL YEARS
These are events that were part of the COMMUNITY SCHOOL activities and were offered at Pine Moutain during the years that the COMMUNITY SCHOOL was located on campus at Pine Mountain. Activities of the COMMUNITY SCHOOL were often integrated into the Pine Mountain Settlement School community and campus event activities such as Mountain Day and May Day. This Community participation was particularly true of Folk Dancing events at the School, plays, sports, etc., during the Community School years.
EVENTS BOARDING SCHOOL YEARS 1913-1949
This includes events that were part of community celebrations in past years but are no longer offered on a regular basis. These were events that were repeated annually for a certain period of time. Such events include Mountain Day, Dogwood Breakfast, May Day, Fair Day, and Thanksgiving Ball, etc. To see a complete list, consult EVENTS Guide to Past Events.
EVENTS SPECIAL
This includes one-time special events such as conferences, musical performances, organ recitals, dramas, White House tour, centennial celebrations, etc. Some of these events may be cross-listed under other headings, such as Alumni Relations and other gatherings that celebrate a special year, person, or events (Silver Jubilee, Centennial, etc.). See list in EVENTS Guide to Special Events (in progress).
