BOOKS Courtney Lomax Moser Donation 2018

In 1964 Mary Hale Spurlock and other Berea College Country Dancers were invited to the White House to dance for President John F. Kennedy. A later trip to South and Central America by the Berea College Country Dancers fostered the life-long interest of Mary Hale and her fellow students in English Country Dancing and Appalachian music and literature.

Pine Mountain is very grateful for this generous donation of Appalachian-related books, sheet music, and dance recordings by Mary Hale Spurlock’s daughter and for the annual gathering of the Spurlock Family at Pine Mountain.
