Per Mrs. Zande’s request about stopping trains at Laden, Lieber directs Price to instruct the train crews accordingly, and to send Mrs. Zande the Laden train schedules. Copy to Zande.

004-004a  January 24, 1921. Two-page carbon copy of a notice from R.D. Pusey, General Passenger Agent, Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company, Louisville, Ky., [004] to “Gentlemen” (as listed, including Ethel de Long Zande) advising that the Management of the L&N Railroad Company has approved an extension of two trains through to Middlesboro and a schedule change. Also, the Pullman Company temporarily would not be furnishing parlor cars for trains 22 and 23.

006 January 29, 1921. To Zande from D.K. Price, concerning Zande’s “request that Laden be established as a flag stop for our passenger trains.” He regrets telling her that Superintendent Hollingsworth “advised that he could not agree to the arrangement inasmuch as Laden is only 1.19 miles from Dillon and it being contrary to our policy to establish passenger stops closer than two miles.”

005a January 30, 1921. [Carbon copy on reverse side of 005 letter.] To Mr. Pusey from EZ (Zande), thanking him for “the consideration you showed all of us as we presented our various grievances…and more grateful to you than we can express for giving us a stop at Laden.” In closing, Zande writes:

That meeting was an unusual experience for me. I have never shared in the rather noisy deliberations of so large a group of men before, and I imagine no one observed with more interest and admiration than I did, your own marvelous chairmanship of that meeting.

007 February 7, 1921. To Mr. Price from EZ (Zande), expressing disappointment concerning Hollingsworth’s decision. She presents statistics “for your consideration in case you should feel you could take it up with him again.”
