ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION 1988-89 A Legacy for Future Generations

Planning documents for the future of the Environmental Education (EE) Program were requested by the Board of Trustees at Pine Mountain Settlement School prior to the arrival of the new EE Director, Ben Begley.

The planning documents look at the legacy of the institution and the future potential of programming that the institution, the surrounding community and the natural environment can provide.

Attached notes in the hand of Mary Rogers, suggest the document was prepared by Director Paul Hayes, c. 1988-89, when John Stephenson, President of Berea College, was Chair of the PMSS Board of Trustees. [See pgs. 13-14] Mary Rogers’ handwritten “Suggested Amendments” 1988.

The 5 – part plan includes the following:

    1. Institutional Mission
    2. Record of Accomplishments
    3. Directions for the Future
    4. Plan of Action to Accomplish Objectives
    5. Ways of Giving
