Events:

The Board of Trustees approved a change in provisions for Trustees, to include “two-thirds to be members of the Berea Board of Trustees, or staff”. This change made it possible to appoint Berea staff members, and provided that one-third of the members were not required to have Berea association.

The Board approved a staff recommendation that a man and a woman be appointed for recreational and vocational leadership.

Traditional Events: Community Fair, Nativity Play Weekly community folk dance parties.

Three teachers at Green Hills School, participating in the Rural School Development Project, were housed in “Little Log” cabin at PMSS. Line Fork Center housed Rural School Development Project teacher for Koyle’s Branch School.

Elementary school classrooms were moved from the Burkham Building to the Girls and Boys Industrial buildings.

The farm had 5 beef cattle, introduced a sheep project and continued forest activity.

Community activities based at Pine Mountain included woodwork, music and sewing.

The Girls Industrial Building, now the Primary classroom, was named the “Sigma Phi Gamma Building,” in recognition of the long-continued helpful interest of the Sigma…

Mary Holsinger, Boys House (Guest House) Hostess, Weaver and Office Assistant died March 23, 1955.

The wedding of Lattie Mae Corbin and Jack Keeter took place in the Chapel in May, 1955.
