Members of the Miniard Family lived in the community of Pine Mountain since very early years. Many were among the student body and workers at Pine Mountain Settlement School.
The name “Minyard” is also documented in the PMSS Collections. It is not known if this is a family separate from the Miniards, a misspelling, or alternate spelling of “Miniard.” According to Ethel de Long’s DEAR FRIEND LETTER 1911 [Hindman], the “Minyards” were descendants of the of the four original settlers of Greasy — Minyards, Napiers, Turners and Chappels.
