ARTS AND CRAFTS CERAMICS Photographs of PMSS Pottery
In 2017 photographs were made of all the ceramics remaining at Pine Mountain Settlement School following the 1960s-1970s pottery initiative. The pottery was then wrapped in tissue paper and placed in archival boxes for storage. This is a record of the boxed items. Multiple images were taken and items are repeated in many photographs.
For archival materials describing local efforts to organize interest in pottery and to develop successful marketing strategies, go to ARTS AND CRAFTS CERAMICS Organizing and Marketing Pottery 1960s
For documents related to philosophy and planning associated with the early ceramics program at Pine Mountain Settlement, go to ARTS AND CRAFTS CERAMICS Pottery Philosophy and Planning c. 1965-1967.
GALLERY: Photographs of PMSS Pottery
Crafted in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the collection is largely comprised of salt-glazed and wood-fired ceramics. Many pieces represent experiments with local clay, glazes, and various firing methods.
