Ruth Christian [Russell] (1913[?] -1997), was a boarding school student at Pine Mountain Settlement School in the 1930s. During that time, she was a member of the Octet group, an all girl choral group managed by Glyn Morris, the School’s director. Her sisters Lela Christian [Meadows] and Lucille Christian [McKinney] were also PMSS students and Octet members.

The sisters’ parents were Neal Christian (1886-1922) and Lydia (Martin) Christian. Besides Lucille, Ruth and Lela, they had two other children: Ruby and Bobby.
