BIRDENA BISHOP KITCHEN REPORTS 1944-1947
Birdena Bishop’s Kitchen Reports were prepared as part of her responsibilities as a dietician for Pine Mountain Settlement School in addition to her teaching responsibilities. As the Dietician, she was required to report annually and monthly on the activity of the Kitchen. The reports are full of information on foods purchased, grown, prepared and manners at the table observed and all thing of consequence to managing the Kitchen at the School during the Boarding School years from 1940 to 1944. No small feat during the WWII years!
