NOTES – INDEX provides a link to each year’s issue of the Notes from the Pine Mountain Settlement School that is currently available on-line. The linked pages provide images of the publication and a list of its contents.

The Notes from the Pine Mountain Settlement School were sent several times a year to friends and alumni of Pine Mountain Settlement School from 1919 onward. NOTES is published for the purposes of communicating news about the school, preserving historical information, attracting publicity, and raising funds for various purposes.

The publication schedule shows some irregularity, particularly during World War II and again in the 1960s, but the issues are generally consistent with a twice-a-year publication: once in the Spring and once in the Fall. The format also remains relatively consistent through the years. Early issues were printed at the School with black and white ink on white or pastel paper and folded in half to create a four-page issue. Some issues ran to eight pages for special topics. In recent years the color photographs of the School have brightened the pages.

The first issue was published in 1919 and during WWII some issues were not printed. Most Notes have volume and issue information, but series information can be erroneous in some cases. During the Boarding School years, the issues for 1934 and for 1937 appear to be missing or to never have been printed.

The Post-Boarding School Years from 1949 to 2001 are currently being added to the site.
